I couldn't possibly answer that question without first SITTING in the chair to know what it's like. It MIGHT be the most awesome thing ever, but I just can't tell from here.

Fair enough. I'm hoping not to have to buy it to find out.

I'm definitely in the "sit first" camp.

I'm in the 'sit first' camp, as well. But it looks grand, I think...
minkrose: (surprise!)

I mean, I'm not saying what is up with that chair in a bad way, necessarily, haha! But it is very interesting.

Exactly...

I had a smile on my face as I was tilting my head at it... but it is definitely different.

If they were checkboxes rather than radiobuttons, I'd have picked 1 and 3. because it looks awesome but also, what's up with that.

You throw your leg over the low "arm". Which is my absolutely preferred way of sitting in chairs.

[identity profile] firstfrost.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I never sit in chairs that way, so I couldn't recognize the point. :)

[identity profile] lillibet.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's basically a chaise, only instead of having your feet lie along the length of it, they just dangle over the arm.

[identity profile] galestorm.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't ... isn't ... might it not be meant to sit on that way? That seems a bit odd, but if it works for you, then ... :-)

[identity profile] lillibet.livejournal.com 2012-03-02 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, to me--being a leg-thrower of long sitting--when I looked at the chair it seemed evident (in an "OMG, they made a leg-throwing chair!" kind of a way) that's how you sit in it. If you sat in it "straight" you'd have only half a back and an oddly shaped one, at that. But if you put your back into the corner, throw an arm along the other side, one leg over the short arm and the other on the floor, it looks like it would work perfectly. Or you could sit straight against the full back and put both legs up.

I've just called and emailed the manufacturer and put in calls to the half-dozen nearest dealers, none of whom actually have the chair. I'm hoping they can tell me somewhere in the Northeast that actually has one, because I really would like to try before I buy. But if I have to buy to try, I may just do that.

That's a wicked cool chair - But! I hate having to worry about the chirality of my furniture, which is why I never bought the superawesome Ikea faglebo convertible.

It's definitely cool looking and a conversational peice if nothing else.

It's not my sort of furniture, really. (I'm more of an Eames chair person.) But, if it works for you, well, that's what matters. :)
