Packing
I have a fear of only having one pair of shoes with me when I travel. Well, one pair of non-special event shoes. When I was five we went to Cape Cod for our summer vacation and somehow Mom let me pack for myself and I only brought one pair of shoes--these clunky platform sandals--and while visiting Plymouth one of the straps broke and we had to go buy me a new pair of shoes and it was all a mess. So I'm taking my new funky boots as well as my regular black shoes.
This has been a particularly trying round of packing, since I had to define outfits for a rehearsal dinner, wedding, New Year's Eve club event, and high tea, in addition to the usual tramping and theatre clothes I travel with. But at last I think I'm done, except for the toothbrush/hairbrush routine (anyone remember that State sketch--where Sid & Nancy go on the Pyramid game show?). My sister will be here in four hours to take us to the airport. Our houseguest is not yet home to pack.
Well, at least this will mean that I sleep on the plane. Not that it counts as sleep, but it's a good way to pass the time.
Strangely enough, one of the things I'm most excited about on this trip is that I will get to read two different issues of High Life, the British Airways in-flight magazine. It's the little things, y'know?
I don't know how much I'll be able to get online in the next week. If I don't have another chance to say it, I hope you all have a wonderful New Year's and get 2005 off to a good start.

If you're still up, give me a call: I'm still trying to figure out what to pack (and the whole house is up doing one thing or another anyway).

A packing trick I adoped long ago is the old mix -n- match. i.e., no one will notice you're wearing the same skirt twice if you wear a different top with it each time. ;-)

But a transoceanic flight is another matter. I hope you have one of those travel pillows for your neck.
Happy New Year & have a great hopskipjump.

What's not to be excited about? It means you get a crossword each way. :) Have a fun trip. I'm off to Japan tomorrow!
