It's been a long day. Jo called at 9:30 to say that the lumber yard only sent one person with our delivery, so Jason went down to help unload that. When I got back from therapy we loaded up the car with tools and supplies and got down to the church just after noon. There was an extended farce of circular saw troubles--the one Jo had borrowed was chugging in a disturbing fashion, so Jason went and picked one up at Home Depot, but it didn't work, so he and Michael went back to Home Depot and got another saw and that one finally worked, so wood could be cut. While we were waiting for all of that to transpire, Jo and Michael and I put a first coat of paint on about half of the chapel--since T@F uses it as green room space, it would be nice if it were usable by the time the show opens. We finally started putting platforms together about 3:30pm, at which point we discovered that the screws we had were too short for the purpose, so I did a quick run to Tags and finally we were cookin' with gas. Michael had to leave around 4:30, so Jo took him home and changed for the party she was going to later on and came back bearing pizza around 6pm and put in another couple of hours work before heading off. Jason and I continued plugging on throughout all this and managed to get all eight platforms for the thrust stage built and everything cleaned up so the church folk won't freak out tomorrow morning. We made it home about 11 pm. We're pretty fried. It was kind of a bummer that no one else showed up to help, but we'll hope for better luck next weekend.
