I had a really good weekend. On Friday night a bunch of people came by for dinner before all heading to a party together where there were many excellent people and one enormous surprise mystery guest. I managed to have a lot of good conversations with several different people--and one moment of real glory--and was shocked when I realized it was almost five and I should get home for a nap before my regular Saturday morning meeting.

I've been feeling kind of excluded lately. I don't know whether it's just that people figure I'm always busy, or not interested in them, or forget how amazingly cool I am, or what, but I've had several instances lately of hearing second-hand that someone I think of as a relatively close friend was in town and didn't bother to let me know or try to see me, or that many of my friends were at a party together and no one thought to invite me. There are parties that I have been invited to that I haven't made it to, and perhaps it's all just karma coming around, but it made it especially good to have a houseful of guests for the weekend and various other people coming by to spend some time with us here and people being obviously glad to see me at the party I did attend.

Things continued to be completely crazed until this afternoon. With six people here, all going in different directions, the logistics were pretty complex. But we managed to all get fed and all have fun, even if we didn't manage to do everything we'd hoped, or see everyone we wanted to see. This afternoon, after a trip to the airport that ended up being two hours earlier than we had thought it would be (she forgot she'd picked the earlier flight), I came home and took a long nap. I cooked dinner in celebration of the lovely weather and lay on the couch watching the Olympics.
