That tingly feeling
Apr. 18th, 2012 11:02 pmDo you get that tingly feeling, when something is so right? When you put on THE dress, or meet THE girl, or hear THAT song? That's the feeling that I got tonight watching the dress rehearsal for 84 Charing Cross Road. The cast--two exciting newcomers and the fabulous Liz Adams--are just marvelous: warm, funny, lovable and above all, real.
It's the polar opposite of Pride & Prejudice, in many ways. It's a small cast and there's no set, or blocking, minimal lights and sound--just three people reading a script. But sitting in that dark hall, I felt transported, not just to New York and London--places I know and love--but into the hearts of these characters.
Congratulations to
gilana and her cast. I hope lots of you come out to see it tomorrow night--the only performance--because you will be giving yourself a real gift.

Bare Bones presents new works and rarely performed pieces in the spare, intense setting of a directed reading. The fantastic cast of 84 Charing Cross Road will charm, amuse and engage you in this story of a struggling New York writer and her twenty-year correspondence with a London bookshop. Sometimes the people you feel closest to are the ones you've never met.
