This one was really tough--I have a hard time using the word "love" for tv shows and several I've enjoyed very much don't have big enough casts to work for this--but I think I've come up with a list:

1. Post a list of seven TV shows you love (current or canceled).
2. Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each show.
3. When guessed, bold the line and write a little bit about why you like that character.

1. CSI[livejournal.com profile] iamlisabee correctly guessed Grissom--I love his gentleness and his outsider perspective and the way that he anchors the show without making it all about himself in the least.
2. Witchblade (Season 1)
3. Firefly
4. Buffy: The Vampire Slayer
5. Spooks a/k/a MI5[livejournal.com profile] iamlisabee got another one! I adored Ruth for her quiet passion and ability to rise to any occasion. I want to say more, but I'll avoid spoilers.
6. Battlestar Galactica (2003)
7. The Handler

I'd play this game with you, but I'm just having too much trouble getting past the fact that Witchblade could crack anyone's top-seven list. Witchblade? Really?

Then again, I don't think my tastes exactly stand up to sober analysis. So consider this a good-natured tease.

Still... Witchblade?

Well, it was that or Stargate: SG-1. Do you find that more respectable? I said it was tough: I don't watch that much TV, many of the shows I like don't have big enough casts or I just like the main character, and honestly, I just don't "love" many shows I do watch--I have a hard time turning off my inner critic.

Do you have other nominees to suggest? I'm open to the idea that I'm just not thinking of something obvious. Oh, Babylon 5, I suppose I could have said that, but I wasn't nearly as into it as a lot of people were.

I loved The Handler too! Man, that was a good show. I'm glad a couple of the newbies got work in the CSI franchises, and one ended up on Criminal Minds for a couple seasons.

I really was just joshin' you. I know how it is to not watch much TV, seeing as I literally watch maybe ten minutes a month here (we rent DVDs of TV shows from the States, but that doesn't feel the same somehow). As for Stargate, I've never watched it and so can't really pass judgment. Babylon 5? I watched the first four seasons largely under relationship duress and it was...okay. Clever enough, but not so great that I ever understood its rabid, cult-like following. So what do I suggest?

How about The New Zoo Revue? It is, after all, comin' right at you. And I'm guessing you're a Charlie the Owl fan.

3. I'm thinking Jayne or the Shepherd, so it's probably Kaylee. I'm going to say the Shepherd, though.

Are you kidding? When they were in London, they copied all the Witchblade they had and brought it over to us :-).

CSI: Greg
Firefly: Wash
Buffy: Willow (isn't she everyone's?)

I don't remember Witchblade, and haven't watched any others. Tho I've heard *great* things about Spooks, so we might add that to the queue.

Buffy: Willow's not EVERYONE's favourite! I only watched the series for Seth Green (I really don't like Sarah Michelle Gellar and I couldn't tell you why).

I love Spooks! Andy & I haven't known of anyone other than us (up till now) that had seen it. Hooray!

As for favourite character... I have no real guesses as I haven't gotten much past season 4 (and haven't watched much lately). But personally, I always had a soft spot for Colin.

No worries--I was just sayin'.

And yeah, I was definitely Charlie's girl :)

I have heard of four of these shows and never watched any of them. I'd be hard pressed to list any characters from the shows I've heard of:) (I live in cave. You knew that, right?:))

I myself watched Witchblade, having fallen hopelessly in fangrrl-love with Gabriel. Did you specify Season 1 because that's the only one you watched, or because of the mega-retcon?

Gabriel was awfully cool, although not my favorite :)

I specify Season 1, because I think in terms of story quality, Season 2 sucked pretty completely.

Well, that's part of why I added the links :)

I'm guessing you never heard of Witchblade (comic based fantasy about a mysterious bracelet that makes one woman in each generation a superhero--aired on TNT for a couple of year) Spooks (BBC production that airs on Bravo, about a team from MI5--it's really some amazing acting) and The Handler (lasted less than a season, was about a group of FBI undercover agents, so it ended up being a lot about acting, which I loved).

Yeah--always good to see actors I like getting work. I was really disappointed in Hill Harper on CSI:New York--having seen him take on so many very different characters, it's less fun to see him stuck with just one.

Yep, you got it:)

When I did watch tv, I found the shows I really liked never lasted.

We can now watch dvds though, so I've gotten a couple things from the library. It's fun.

Yeah--it freaks me out that CSI is the No. 1 drama on TV for years now. Nothing I like is popular like that. I was mildly reassured when the spinoffs, which I don't like or watch, were also popular, because that suggests that what I'm watching for isn't what other people like. Wouldn't want to have to accept that I'm just part of the mainstream!

I really have no idea, but...

Pretty much shots in the dark -- I don't think we've ever really talked about television, so it's hard to guess what kind of characters you lean towards!
