[livejournal.com profile] dpolicar asked people to comment about their first impressions of him. Since I'm in the throes of meeting hordes of new people, that struck a chord.

What do you remember about your first impression of me?

For extra bonus points, in what way do you think I've changed since then?

Well, the first time we met was at Diesel when you interviewed me for R&G. The first thing that struck me was the relaxed and casual quality about you (regardless of how you must actually have been feeling with several missing Tragedians!). I liked your low-key style because it was so different from the stuffy fake formailty I had experienced with the previous few companies I'd worked with. Somehow I knew working with you would be something very unique.

How you've changed? I think you let yourself have more fun than you did in those early days, and are really enjoys the many new bonds you've made.

You were interesting to talk to, and naked. :-)

You're still interesting to talk to, but I don't think I've actually seen you naked since.

The impression that stays with me of the early days was of you as exceptionally together... well-grounded, centered, aware of yourself, willing to own your own desires, that sort of thing. It seemed like you'd gotten a lot more living out of the years you'd been alive than most people do. In some ways that's still true, but it's a less remarkable impression in one's fourth decade than in one's second.

I'm not sure how you've changed, really. In some ways it seems like you haven't so much changed, as that you've become the person you were trying to be at the time... grown into the role, so to speak.

you struck me as interesting, nice, together, and... well, vibrant. that was less than a year ago, and we run into each other only occasionally, so my impression hasn't changed too much. perhaps there's an added dimension of competent.

Thanks! I still have this feeling of "Ha, I've fooled them all!" but it's nice to hear.

No, it was Walter and Janet's housewarming party, sometime in '94. (Though I think we probably met some years earlier, at an NJAC.)

Well, I believe you welcomed me to dinner, then the phone rang. I'm not really sure I remember much before the phone ringing as I was pretty much focused on someone else at the time, and certainly had no intentions of finding you on my list of closest friends within a month, but I found you charming, intense, honest and very open. Perhaps that's colored by what I see now, or by what I see of me reflected in you. Either way, it's what's stuck with me. That, and you are willing to book reservations to fly in an airplane for 6 hours each way just to see a house. Now, after almost a year of looking, I can understand that part, but then..not so much.
