Fascinating. I mean, it seems fairly obvious, but clearly it's not. Of the people I know who have succeeded, depression accompanied by high tolerance to pain and a multitude of previous attempts combined with a sense of alienation and burden to friends and family. Oh yeah, fits the model.
Interesting. I sometimes think that I was a pretty good candidate for committing suicide; stepping in front of a train seems to be the best way to go (hint: Wave at the engineer; it's really tough on them if they think you just didn't hear it coming or there was a chance they could have done something). Not particularly "violent" either, just fairly certain.
However there was usually something else holding me back. Probably a combination of being lame and inertia. Maybe more motivated people are more successful, and anorexics are pretty motivated.
