Playing at questions
Nov. 8th, 2004 11:00 amThis meme seems to keep going around--a good thing, in my opinion.

1. If you had to direct Murder again from the beginning, what would you do differently (if anything)?
That's hard, because a) I'm extremely pleased with how it's turned out and b) a lot of the things I might like to have done differently were defined by external constraints (e.g. the availability and limitations of the space, money, personnel, etc.). I think I would have tried having auditions in August to give us a longer rehearsal period. I might have re-blocked a couple of sections, but I think they are generally fine as they are. Overall, I have no real regrets.
2. Besides actually being Jason, what single attribute is (among the) most relevant to your finding a man attractive?
Being attracted to me. I don't do hopeless crushes, so as soon as it becomes clear that nothing's going to happen, I tend to lose interest. In terms of physical attributes, it's very rare that I notice men who are shorter than I am--when I do, it tends to be because of their eyes.
3. If sleeping an extra X hours a day (more than you do on average now) was practically guaranteed to extend your useful, healthy lifespan by 20 years, what's the largest X for which you would do it?
Maybe x=1? I already sleep a lot--it's one of my favorite pastimes. And I don't really have any urge to live longer than I expect to.
4. If you could send a message back in time to be read by your parents shortly after your birth, would you? If so, what would it say, and why? (Assume whatever is most interesting about how the message arrives to them.)
"Send this one away to school." I think being schooled with people who were my intellectual peers, away from the pressures of being the minister's kid, might have made a very real and positive difference in my life.
5. You are granted the power to grant three wishes to any single individual (not yourself), but cannot in any way influence what they wish for. Who, and why?
This week, John Kerry, definitely. I believe that his dearest wishes would be to the benefit of myself, our nation, and the world. Alas, we're not going to have the opportunity to find out.
At another time I might say Sumati--she's about the wisest, most informed, intelligent and compassionate person I know. She would have good wishes.
