Slings & Arrows

lillibetLast night J. and I watched the first season (six episodes) of Slings & Arrows. Several people have been trying to get me to watch this, but I'm generally reluctant to take on more TV and very wary of anything labelled "comedy," so I had resisted until ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
gilana finally took matters into her own hands and gave us the first season on DVD. It's fantastic. While I suppose it does have funny moments, the best parts for me were the direction-speeches. I wish I were that kind of a director and could inspire my actors with those kinds of words and insights! Whoever wrote them, I want to be directed by that person! Overall, the acting is very solid--some of the small supporting characters are particularly brilliant--and we were sufficiently engaged (and the timing of Alice's feedings was such) that we watched all six almost before we knew it. Four thumbs up! (Alice would also vote yea, but she's still working on the whole opposable thumbs thing.)
