What a night!
Dec. 23rd, 2003 05:54 pmJason and I went to Cuchi Cuchi last night with
muffyjo,
thatwesguy and another excellent babe.
We had four (or was it five?) rounds of "Splendid Swallows" (a bottoms-up shot of Patron tequila), a couple more rounds of margaritas (and sidecars and manhattans), and a round of dessert drinks (Calvados, 20 year old tawny port, Drambuie, icewine and cloudberry wine) with which we played "take one down, pass it around." Oh, and there was food--eggplant Napoleon, St. Jaques zucchini, Caspian Heaven, braccioletta ripiena, steak au poivre, mushroom risotto, braised duck with an espresso habanero glaze, and sizzling garlic shrimp--all very, very good. And it was just such a great gang for high quality, caring, silly, interesting conversation as we got drunker and drunker. Sadly, we broke the Drambuie drinker--but that was all fine, it happens, life goes on. We inflicted ourselves en masse on another friend to wish him a happy birthday at home around 1am and then got rides from sober people in our varying directions. Of course, it was the Drambuie drinker who had to make a 6:10am flight, so after I sobered up, I had to stay awake long enough to make the run to the airport and back. It was so good to finally climb into bed! And, most amazingly, no hangover when I dragged myself back out five hours later. What a great kick-off to the holiday week.
