One of my tricks, when searching the net for recipes, is to preface my search with the word "ultimate". It seems to limit the search to manageable levels and tilt it towards actually useful links.

Last week was my mother's 88th birthday and we had agreed that I would make brownies, one of the very few chocolate desserts I enjoy. (For those who weren't aware, I don't much like chocolate, but there are a few exceptions.) I'm pretty sure I haven't made brownies from scratch since I lived at Fenway House, so more than twenty years ago. Searching brought me to this recipe.

These are phenomenal brownies. As the description promises, they are " tall like a cakey-brownie, but dense like a fudgy-brownie." I made them with pecans for extra yum. And I even bought myself a new brownie pan for the occasion, so now I have to make them again!

Yaay BROWNIES. Thank you for this! I've bookmarked your link under my 'Tasty Baked Goods' file. Brownies are one of my favorite contributions to bring to potlucks and dinners an such because they aren't spillable and almost everyone loves them. And I get to lick the bowl. ;-)

I'll get adventurous and try them, maybe for [livejournal.com profile] thorbol's birthday! But I didn't even know there *was* such a thing as a brownie pan, proving that I still have much to learn in the kitchen.

I was going to say, my favorite brownie recipe is the one inside the Baker's Chocolate box, but this looks pretty damn close to that (I don't remember there being FIVE eggs, which could explain why yours got cakey). Mmmmm. And yay!

That looks from a first glance a lot like Moosewood's fudge brownie recipe. (http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/001578.html) Which I like a lot, and haven't made in ages. :-)
