Recently a friend did a 500km trek through the mountains of Laos on a unicycle. Seriously. He's put up photos and an interesting and amusing travelogue here.
My favorite quote:
"I'm going to unicycle 500km through Laos." "At no point in that sentence could I predict what you would say next."
From time to time, I have imagined that a geared unicycle would be the ideal commuting vehicle. More compact than a bike, yet with all the advantages of speed and efficiency over walking. The only problem was that the very notion of a geared unicycle seemed impossible. But what do you know, someone else had the same idea and actually got it to work.
