That's the sound of the external validation machine :)

We had ~80 people the first night, 96! the second night, and 40 this afternoon--excellent for a Sunday matinee! If we keep this up we might break even and perhaps even have some money left for our next show.

And everyone has had very sincere praise for the show and for my actors and for me, both as a director and as the organizer of the project. It's so wonderful to be able to look out at a crowd of people watching what I've devoted myself to for the past couple of months and see them laughing and enjoying themselves.

You have worked incredibly hard for this dream to come true. I can't imagine someone whose dreams I'd rather support. I think it's an amazing adventure. I wonder how far it will take us in the end?

We've come this far. And besides, anything can happen.

It's been a joy working with you on this!

(this is Mare writing from my seldom-used LJ)

This show is an awe-inspiring success in every way, and YOU'RE the reason for it! You brought back my interest in theatre, dear girl! We've got another fantastic weekend to look forward to, and the future is a wide open canvas.

On behalf of the whole cast: WE LOVE YOU!

-Mare

More than merely good. I wish you could have been a fly on the wall listening to many of us talking about how meaningful this production has been to us, and how the chemistry of this company is like none other. For anyone reading, let me just say that E has assembled what so many directors try for -- a true creative family. That's so rare, and she did it. I have never, ever enjoyed a production more.

After the whirlwind of this weekend, I'm going to write an in-depth account of the process of this production in my LJ, as I experienced it from an actor's point of view. But first...SHOW!

I saw last night's show, and even though it was so packed we had to move around a bit to see, it was excellent! Your 3 main characters were fun and well cast- the two gentlemen played off each other very well, especially in the first act, and I was happy and impressed with the entire production.

I heard about the production through a friend who used to play and direct with the mit shakespeare troupe, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Congrats!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

The next time we use that space we're hoping to build platforms for the back of the audience.

Part of the problem (and a good problem to have) was that we were so totally overwhelmed by the response! We had hoped to have 60 people per show and got over a hundred.

Thanks very much for coming out! I hope you'll come to future Theatre@First productions.
