Tonight was kind of a zoo. We had three different groups rehearsing in various timeslots and spaces and I'm afraid I wasn't as focused as I should have been. Fortunately, I really have been doing a bejeezusload of thinking about this play, so I was able to generate answers to everyone's questions and I think they even hang together. We've now gone over, cursorily, about half of the play. Not bad for the first week. The process of creating blocking is always somewhat chaotic. I have the basic structure developed, but there's always a lot of detail to be worked out and filled in and with everyone trying to juggle scripts and pencils and lines and blocking...well, it's amazing anything gets done, really. I hear good things happened in the Chorus rehearsal and I can't wait to see them on Monday. Not to say that good things didn't happen in my rehearsals--I continue to be very impressed with my cast and their grasp of the material. I was really afraid we were going to have to spend a lot more time understanding the text, but everyone seems to be pretty well up to speed.
