Jason and I just had a really good rehearsal. Really good. We went over the section with the Tempters and two of his major speeches with a fine-toothed comb, finding new meanings and new movements and new gestures that make the same speech richer and more robust with every repetition.

I am really proud of the work that he's putting into this. It's a very different challenge from any of the roles he's had previously and it is very gratifying to watch him carving down to the character, finding Thomas and bringing him out. I am so excited to be getting this performance from him.

I've been recruiting substitute organists until First Church's new music director starts next month, which leads to writing sentences that can't help but make me giggle. Example: "When would it be convenient for you to come by and familiarize yourself with our organ?"

Here's a silly song a friend wrote about his feelings for Dubya.

A book I own that nobody on my friends list does:

Red Star by Alexander Bogdanov (the first Soviet sf)

A CD I own that nobody on my friend list does:

Piano Classics from the World of Jane Austen

A DVD/VHS tape I own that nobody on my friends list does:

Impromptu, perhaps.

A place I've been that nobody on my friends list has been:

Cheddar Gorge

If I'm wrong on any of these, I'd love to hear about it.

Y'know, when you look up from crying in your therapist's office to find that she has tears in her eyes, it's very validating.
