- she is still almost-crawling: she can get up on her hands and knees, or she can creep across the floor on her belly, but I still haven't seen what I would call crawling

- she can stand on her own two feet, holding onto things

- sometimes when she wakes up at night she sings herself back to sleep

- she weighs just about 17.5 lbs.

- she is babbling in syllables and pretty clearly associating "ma ma ma ma" with me and "da da da da" with J., but neither of us are claiming "first word" yet

- if you say "boogedy, boogedy, boogedy" to her, she rocks back and forth

- we're working on switching her to sleep in her own room, which is going pretty well despite our inconsistency about it

- she is continuing to eat everything we give her quite cheerfully, except for carrots, as long as it's very smooth; actually solid food is still mysterious and problematic

- still no sign of teeth, although the onslaught of drool continues unabated

- she's still got a very sweet temperament and is generally happy and cheerful; I don't know if it's just that we're putting more effort into it lately, or an actual development, but I feel as though she laughs more easily now

FWIW, I think you are correct and that she does laugh more easily now. She's really come a long ways towards being clearly "reactive" and staying with you as her attention span has increased tremendously. Now she waits and watches to see what goofy thing you'll (ok I'll) do next with a smile ready.

I was thinking just the other day how lucky Alice is while looking through her photo blog. She is going to grow up and have, thanks to you, Jason, and family, a huge and comprehensive record of her first year. I wish I had something like that! I bet she will be very appreciative.

Either that or she'll hate us forever :)

I am still working on completing Aileen's I gave up on the twins.

BTW I am soo Jealous of the sing back to sleep part. Mine need feedings. C gets two at 3 hours then 5 and S gets one at 5. So they never match up.

Hey we should work on doing a play group thing. Now that they are more interactive. drop me email.

Yeah, Alice still goes for the night-feedings sometimes. But not always, which is a lovely vision of things to come!

Sending email now.

Thanks for posting this -- I love to read about what Alice is doing, and I have no idea how you keep from putting something about some cute thing she's done into every post. :-)

Well, I do post a picture of her every day :)

I think I mostly resist cute-Alice-stories in my LJ because I don't know how to write them--the written word cannot convey the joy of her giggles or the silliness of her snorts or the look on her face when she thinks she's getting away with something.

And I enjoy looking at the pictures! I'd really like to get Karl and Alice together sometime and see what they make of each other. And of course I'd love to meet Alice!

I guess that for me, the cool things that my kids do are so exciting that I can't help but write about them. In the last couple of days, Karl has learned how to get off the couch/toddler bed/whatever feet first, which is just so cool! And he zooms up the entire flight of stairs between our first and second floors without stopping, which amazes me. See, I just can't help myself! :-)

I forgot to say -- part of why that feet-first-off-the-couch thing is so exciting is because it's something we consciously tried to teach him to do, and it's amazing to see that he actually learned the lesson.

Hey--maybe I don't post because Alice doesn't have such amazing feats. She's really just begun crawling and standing. Like Jason, she's taking her time with the milestones.
