Paranoid Enough?

Three of the four underwater fiber optic cables routing internet traffic to/thru the Middle East have broken in the past week, according to this BBC News article. It surprises me that no one seems suspicious of this coincidence.

What does it say about what's salient to me that my first thought on reading your post was "But I just ordered tickets online for the Upstairs on 2/15"?

On my birthday I met a Turkish guy who, when forced to guess my age, said "28". I laughed and admitted the truth and he said "29, so I was close" and when I repeated "39" he got that I thought I understood English better than that look and stammered "Y-you are almost f-f-forty?" I said yes and he shook his head and said "I think American women look much younger than Turkish women." I said "We live very easy lives."

Based on what I saw of rural Turkish women when I was there, I'd have to agree with both statements.
