This week's Friday Five don't particularly appeal to me, except for:

3. If you could travel back in time to change the course of one historical event, what event would it be?

And, see, I probably wouldn't, because of the impossibility of knowing the massive effects of even small events. But if we had good enough modelling software, I would love to run a history wherein The Black Prince survived to be king of England.

Oh, I don't know. I've been thinking since late 2000 that if I could go back in time, step on a butterfly, and return to the present time to find that the other guy was president, like in that Ray Bradbury story, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

:-)

I had a very odd time-travel dream last night. Four people who were dear to me (even though I now have no clue who they were--relatives? friends?) were in a fatal car accident, and I was suddenly catapulted back in time to before the accident. It turned out that they all "remembered" it happening, but as the event grew closer and closer, their "memories" faded, and they did exactly what they had done before, with the same results. In fact, they may have even been compelled to do exactly what they did before.

There were some interesting twists, like the location of the accident (somewhere in a Chinatown) and the baby in the trunk -- who survived, I think -- but I don't remember them all.

Well, I'm glad the baby survived!

What an odd one.
