Sunshine Cleaning

muffyjo, Jason and I got to see Sunshine Cleaning tonight.
Overall, we liked it. It's one of those nice, small movies that we tend to like, with enough layers to make it interesting. Best of all, it's not about a dysfunctional family of people who hate each other--it's about a family of people who love each other a lot, but all have some pretty serious stuff to deal with. The ending felt a little abrupt and I actually think I know how it would have been better,* even with the various loose ends they left dangling. I really liked all the main characters and thought they were mostly well-realized. I would have liked a couple of the side-figures to get more closure, but I can live with it.
*If they had moved Rose's breakup with Mac to after the baby shower and fire, I think it would have made that the turning point and created a more balanced arc.
