Tonight I had the privilege of seeing ¡BOCON!, presented by The After School Partnership & All-City Drama of The Cambridge Public Schools Department of Visual & Performing Arts and directed by the lovely and talented
urban_faerie_, with sound and music by the lovely and talented
clarity_dog.
But the real stars of the show were the kids: 7th and 8th graders telling a story in Spanish and English, incorporating folktales and modern politics, using dance and maskwork and song and some really fine acting. There were a couple of them who made me think "gee, we should do more shows that need kids!"
I also got to sit with
smacaski and
joyeous, which was a treat in itself.
Congratulations to everyone involved. And the next time
urban_faerie_ tells you to go see a show, do yourself a favor and go!
