Post these questions in your journal, ideally with your responses behind a cut so people have a chance to think of their own answers first.
The questions:
1. What is your favorite word?
2. What is your least favorite word?
3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
4. What turns you off?
5. What is your favorite curse word?
6. What sound or noise do you love?
7. What sound or noise do you hate?
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
9. What profession would you not like to do?
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
1. This week I'm particularly enjoying "entelechy".
2. "Ultimatum."
3. Enthusiasm and competence.
4. Cruelty.
5. Felgercarb.
6. Spanish guitar, my mother's voice, applause.
7. Any high-pitched repetitive sound--the whine of electronics, a wonky bathroom fan, some electronica.
8. My therapist has been encouraging me to check out life coaching as a career...that seems plausible to me. My problem has always been a sense that I could do just about anything, without sufficient drive in any particular direction except marriage and motherhood.
9. On the tube one day there was an announcement that the train would be stopping at our station, because the next station was "flooded with raw sewage" and I was overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude that it was not my job to deal with that.
10. "Surprise!"
And now I can go enjoy other people's answers without fear of contamination.
