lillibetThat was fun, but having seen the extended version of Two Towers on Friday I find my appetite merely whetted, rather than sated.
I found myself less moved by the Frodo and Sam stuff than I had expected to be. And I really wished that they had shown the Gollum/Frodo fight from a perspective other than Sam's. Having Gollum grappling with Invisible Frodo was sufficiently goofy that I felt it distracted from the emotion of the moment. I probably would have chosen to show a spirit-world view, like the encounter with the Nazgul at Weathertop. On the other hand, the melting of the ring was deeply, deeply cool. And, as always, I find myself more impressed by how much of the book they managed to include than bothered by what they decided to leave out.
