Well, that went well
Apr. 11th, 2004 09:16 pmWe had all of both of our immediate families (that's eleven people, total) over for Easter dinner today. My in-laws stayed home from church and did a lot of the prep work (chopping, peeling, etc.), my mom made gravy, my husband dealt with the set-up and getting everyone drinks, and my sister washed dishes, so I managed to really be the executive chef, which was a treat. Folks arrived in stages, from noon until 1:30. We had lots of nibblies on hand, so people noshed until dinner was ready, shortly after two. I served roasted lamb with rosemary mashed potatoes, haricots verts, salad (a really good one with bacon bits and crumbled blue cheese and a rosemary/garlic vinaigrette), Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. Everyone got enough to eat and we had very close to zero leftovers, which is pretty amazing. Afterwards we split into three groups for a long walk, a short walk, and a nap. My mom was very talkative and we had a nice talk and everyone seemed to get along well. Folks wandered away again in stages from 6pm until 8pm. Now I've had a little breather and we're getting ready to go see Hellboy.
