Another interview! This time by [livejournal.com profile] gringoddess.

For a woman who has so many people who claim to be her friend, it begs the question: who is your BEST friend?

This is actually an easy one. There are sort of three, but two of them have their own titles ("husband" and "sister") so "best friend" is left to steve. He and have been friends since 1987. He lives in Boston and we talk on the phone pretty much every day (which is much cheaper now that I don't live across continents and oceans from him) and have been through most of the highest highs (you have *no* idea) and lowest lows (ouch!) of our lives together. He is a molecular biologist, rock critic and sugar artist. We are incredibly different people, which only makes our enduring and unshakeable friendship all the more remarkable.

What is the most threatened you've ever felt in a foreign country?

Another easy one...the time I was mugged at knifepoint in Mexico. Fortunately I interpreted their request literally and gave them my wallet, which only had about two dollars and my sports club ID in it, not the approximately one hundred dollars in cash in my back pocket. That's the only time I have ever felt genuinely afraid for my life.

If you had only two career paths before you, minister or insurance adjustor, which would you choose?

Now, this one is tough. If I were actually in that situation, I think I would try "insurance adjustor" first. I'd have to learn something about cars, but I think it would be less personally traumatic for me. I think I'd be a great minister if I could really throw myself into it, but I don't think I would ever be willing to do that to the extent required.

What emotion do you have the most trouble expressing publicly?

Well, insecurity, apparently. No one ever reads that one right.

Selfishness is the one I have the hardest time exhibiting in public. My mother raised me to always put other people first and while I can be selfish in private, in public I have a much harder time shaking the "caring what other people think" governor.

If you were to have an exit interview with God after walking down the Great Tunnel of Light, what would you ask/tell Her?

"Thanks for a great ride!" And then I'd ask to see Time.
