Show's Over, Folks

The final show went beautifully. People seemed especially moved by our performance--I think the sense of poignancy many of us were feeling fed particularly well into our play--and it felt very strong.
dpolicar, our esteemed director, said that there were several things that had he seen them three weeks ago, he would have tried to solidify and make part of our standard approach. And it was cooler than Friday night, so much more pleasant onstage and in the green room. Of course, it was still pretty hot backstage--the stagehands had declared it "corset & kilt night" and several of the cast and crew (and even one of the volunteers!) obliged.
Then it was time for strike. Much to our surprise and delight, a contingent of the Arisia technical staff showed up for the performance and pitched right in to help the cast and crew. We had lots of help and managed to get the church back to its normal state in a couple of hours. And when the producer was done counting the money, we were several hundred dollars in the black! Thank you so much to everyone who helped this production in any way and especially our wonderful audiences who make it possible for us to continue doing what we do.
We were tired, but there was a cast party to attend. I got to have substantial conversations with several people, including
alfie1981,
shayr22,
petra_quince and many others.
dpolicar licked me--spending all this time with the puppy is definitely changing his modes of interation--and I snagged
folzgold (corset meets mesh shirt) and enjoyed watching everyone unwind and bounce off the walls. But at last it was time to say farewell and head off into the sunset, er...dawn with
jason237 in our newly repaired Mini.
Another closing of another show--it's been good to be an actor for a change, but I'm very excited to be ramping up production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. If you're interested in getting involved as an actor, crew or staff, please let me know--as we continue to prove, the more the merrier!
