Restaurant Week - Colonial Inn
Mar. 8th, 2007 07:59 pmThis afternoon J. and I went to lunch at the Colonial Inn in Concord. The inn is a lovely old lady, reminding me of the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, but on a smaller scale. We were seated in one of the several small dining rooms, with four other tables, all of which filled up while we were there.
J. started with the artichoke and red pepper fritters, served with a crab dressing. They were quite good, although I preferred to dip them in the blue cheese dressing that came with my salad of Boston lettuce with tomatoes and chopped ham. For his main, J. had a very nice Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms and a side of fries, while I had a deconstructed chicken cordon bleu--breaded chicken topped with swiss cheese and prosciutto over pappardelle in a light alfredo sauce. That was really tasty. Our desserts were creme brulee and the apple cheesecake streudel bars with fresh berries and whipped cream. Both were a little overly sweet, but yummy.
I've been meaning to get out to the inn for a couple of years now and am glad we had the opportunity and got there during the day. It seems like a great place to take one's mom--well, my mom, at least!
