Guest Swapping

lillibetDue to illness, my weekend was fairly quiet. On Friday evening Leah and
Barbara joined Jason, Sonja, John and I for a reading of _The Importance of
Being Earnest_. We ordered Chinese food and looked at Barbara's pictures
from her trip to Uganda and had a nice time with the play.
On Saturday, Jason went with John & Sonja on the boat down the Thames to
Greenwich, where they visited the Royal Observatory. In the evening we went
out for sushi at Tsukuba. Their menu listed "battera" or "old fashioned
sushi," with either eel or mackerel. Jason and I were intrigued, so we
ordered the eel and it turned out to be a rice cake about an inch thick and
six inches square, topped with grilled eel and cut into sections. Very
filling and tasty, tho' more rice than Jason generally likes. We might try
the mackerel on our next visit.
On Sunday morning I made French toast for everyone and then Jason went out
to Heathrow to meet his parents' flight from Seattle. I did a run to the
grocery store and put the guest bed sheets in the laundry and spent a last
hour with John & Sonja before they left, about half an hour before Jason got
back with Trish & Steve.
After a brief nosh and tour of the flat, they went off with Jason to wander
around Camden Market and I made paella that was just about ready when they
got back. Trish & Steve went to sleep pretty quickly after dinner, giving
Jason and me a chance to curl up on the couch together and watch an episode
of Buffy.
While they were out yesterday, I heard this huge sound of water out back and
went out to discover that a pipe on the back of the house had come loose and
what looked like the soapy water from the downstairs flat's laundry was
pouring out. So I called the building manager and he sent Pete round first
thing this morning to reattach the pipe.
Everyone was sleeping late today, but I got up and had scrambled eggs &
chorizo on the table when they came downstairs. Steve & Trish went up to
Cambridge with Jason today to wander around while he spends a day at the
office. I am feeling more sick, after a couple of days of feeling much
better, so I am planning to take it easy and try to get going on a couple of
projects.
Hope all of you are well. We changed our clocks on Saturday, so we'll be
six hours ahead of EST until you spring forward.
