I spent this evening with the Chorus and we got through the last three speeches that they need to learn. I think they're all coming right along and each speech is developing its own tone and flavor in some very interesting ways. They've still got work to do, in terms of getting word perfect and remembering the blocking, but I feel entirely confident that we're on track. I really enjoy spending time with them as a group and as individuals--it's kind of fun to have a Girls Night at T@F.

And tomorrow, still more blocking of the murder.

My inner blocking dialogue goes something like "Stomp, circle, stomp, circle, Spence's neck, bellow, advance, stabby, saunter."

Yours might be different though. :)

heh.
Hadn't thought about it this way... i guess mine is:

  1. Follow spence
  2. Stand there looking intimidating; don't crack up when Peter walks into me
  3. Cross over trying to look like I have some good reason to do so ("we must see the archbishop")
  4. Be surprised by Thomas' entrance
  5. Declaim to the audience ("you are the archbishop...")
  6. Threaten Thomas ineffectually ("creeping out of the London dirt")
  7. Let Spence push me out of the way ("saving your order...")
  8. Taunt, circle, taunt some more ("saving your insolence... pray for you... god bless him")
  9. Declaim to the audience some more ("yet the king, out of his charity...")
  10. Threaten Thomas and the priests ineffectually ("priest, you have spoken...")
  11. Storm off frustrated ("Enough of words...")
Then:

  1. Barge in, wander around, fail to notice Thomas ("Force him...")
  2. Be surprised by Thomas' entrance again
  3. Threaten Thomas slightly less ineffectually
  4. Get into line with Spence
  5. Try to get up the stairs and fail; wait for you to tackle priest-to-right
  6. Push peter up against the wall
  7. Circle and taunt some more ("How can I return...")
  8. Bang stirring priest on the head
  9. Bang, grab, slice, toss, back up a little, freeze. ("Can I look again at the day...")
  10. Back away, form square ("Not time to grieve long"...)
  11. Face audience, sheath sword ("Clear the air")
  12. Give speech
  13. Intimidate audience and leave

But I only know the cues for about half of those, and I'm sure a bunch of movements are missing.

The priests will always intimidate you

and you will always be an ineffective threatener. Such is the life of a second knight.

Actually, my initial reading of the part was very much along these lines, and I still think the ebb-and-flow of the knight scenes works more smoothly if the knights are intimidated by the threat of spiritual sanction... but that's not how we're playing it here. So, nyahh... not intimidated, I.
