[livejournal.com profile] gilana and I took advantage of Boston Restaurant Week to lunch together at Turner Fisheries in Copley Place. For $20.05 we enjoyed three delightful courses (we had choices, but we both made the same ones): a salad of yellow tomatoes, watermelon and mint followed by pan-roasted filet of halibut with cilantro sauce and buttered baby turnips, and then a peach-ginger milkshake with a small peach tart and a drizzle of raspberry coulis. The flavors all combined spectacularly well, the service was attentive, the ambience lovely and the company charming, of course. A lovely way to start off the week!

All hail [livejournal.com profile] gilana and [livejournal.com profile] bismuthobsidian for organizing and making happen the T@F 80's Dance! There were funky lights and all those great old songs and people dressed up and came out and shook their groove things despite the heat and humidity. Even I put on the jewelry from my junior prom and pulled my hair into a side ponytail and got out on the dance floor. It was a whole lot of fun!

Reading

Some interest has been expressed in reading one or both of the other Talley plays together. Saturday, March 12th is looking like a good date for the church and me. If we're going to try to do both plays, then I think we should aim to get started about noon. If folks are willing to kick in money for lunch, I could get a couple of sandwich platters, or something, or we could brown-bag it. If we want to do one now, see how that goes, and plan to do another one later, then I think we could start at 2 or 3pm.

Opinions? If we're just doing one, I'm thinking it should be Talley & Son, but if there's general acclamation for Fifth of July I'm certainly not opposed to that one.

I'd like to get a plan in place, so I can tell other folk about it, so let me know what you think and if you can make it.

So, [livejournal.com profile] jason237 and I are going to see The House Jacks at Johnny D's tonight. The show starts at 9pm. We've heard good things about their new menu and were thinking we'd eat before the show. They're booking tables tonight and we'd be happy to have people join us. I'm going out for a bit, but will be back and make the reservation around 4pm for 8pm (or whenever close to that they'll give me). If you want to join us, let me know before then and I'll add you to our booking. If not, then I'll just hope to see you at the show.

In straightening up, I found a grocery bag with four books in it: Silverlock, two Julie Garwood romance/thrillers, and Wild Animus.

Did you leave them at my house?

I'll put them in the pile of stuff for the rummage sale, unless someone claims them.

So, J. and I promised to pick L. up at the airport tonight, which is not far from the home of T&s. So I had suggested that we should get L. at 6:30pm, pick up T&s and go to the nearby Brazilian rodizio (all the meat you can eat) restaurant that s. has been wanting us to try. But s. forgot to mention this plan to T. before L2 (who happens to be vegan) called to say he's in town and T. invited him to come over tonight. But T. doesn't know where L2 is staying, so we can't reach him, so they need to hang out at home until he shows up. Meanwhile, s. heard from B. (who's in town from LA and was over there on Friday night) that L. made plans with P. for this evening. So I called P. and found out that their plans were fairly amorphous and in any case he's watching the Pats game with a buddy and will happily head down to T&s.'s once that ends. But L. is stuck in Charlotte and her flight is delayed by about three hours. So we've made a new plan that J. & I will go over and hang out with T&s. and maybe L2. will show up and who knows, P. might even make it, and we'll order some food. And then s. says "And if that's all happening, then someone should go pick up B."

So we're heading out to do that. Hijinks may ensue.

I've just been reminded by [livejournal.com profile] hotpoint's latest post that it's been ages since I had a good game of Trivial Pursuit. I've got ten different versions I think. Anyone want to get together next Wednesday night (December 8th...one month before my birthday!) and play? We could order pizza and you could help us taste some wines we're trying out. If we get more than four other people interested, we could play teams or get multiple boards going or something.

Oh, this is one of my favorite things, embodied in a meme taken from [livejournal.com profile] miss_chance. The idea is that you introduce at least two of your LJ friends whom you think should know each other. This is somewhat harder for me than it would have been a few months ago, since Murder in the Cathedral gave me the chance to introduce so many of my friends, but let's see...

[livejournal.com profile] muffyjo should definitely meet [livejournal.com profile] schmoomom...maybe up in Maine someday.

[livejournal.com profile] bookly should meet [livejournal.com profile] ozarque, in a big way.

[livejournal.com profile] auroraborealis and [livejournal.com profile] gringoddess would have a lot to talk about.

[livejournal.com profile] heliopsis and [livejournal.com profile] wrynathan should definitely sing together someday.

[livejournal.com profile] ceo and [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel probably already know each other, actually, but if they don't, I think they'd enjoy the experience.

...lastly, [livejournal.com profile] ancawonka and [livejournal.com profile] androidqueen are such occupiers-of-the-same-niche-in-different-generations that I don't know if they'd be compatible, or not, but it would be very fun to introduce them and see.

And, of course, everyone should know [livejournal.com profile] jimmystagger.

What a fantastic day! I was early for lunch, so I got to hang out in the Square for a few minutes, enjoying the beautiful weather and listening to a Spanish guitar. Then I had a quick, tasty lunch with a beautiful and interesting woman. Then I headed up to the church, which meant more strolling in the sun, and got some work done. I came home from that and had a lovely nap with very interesting dreams. In the evening we went up for dinner with [livejournal.com profile] kirkcudbright and his family and a couple of other friends of theirs. Good wine, amazing food, lovely conversation, and elephant jokes! We rolled on home just after ten, curled up on the couch and watched a couple of hours of TV, including one of the very best shows I've ever watched. And now, to bed.

And yes, I know that I'm a very lucky person.
